Whoopi Goldberg returned to work in Kind of on Monday (February 14) after a two-week suspension. “Yes, I’m back,” she told the audience at the beginning of the show.
Goldberg was suspended earlier this month due to remarks she made about the Holocaust on the air. While discussing a decision by the Tennessee School Board to ban the award-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust A 66-year-old man said the Holocaust “was not about race.”
The actress later apologized for the remarks before being rejected.
“We will continue to have tough talks,” Goldberg said. “And partly because that’s what we were hired for. And it’s not always beautiful, as I said, and not always the way others would like to hear.
“But it is an honor to sit at this table and be able to have these conversations because they are important. They are important to us as a nation and to us more as a person. ”
Goldberg further “thanked everyone who held out their hand while I was gone.”
“It was amazing and I listened to everything everyone had to say and was grateful and I hope it will continue all the important conversations.”
