WAYLAND, MICHIGAN (WOOD) – Police are investigating sexual assault that took place in Wailand on Thursday.

It happened around 10:30 on the Rabbit River trail near Elm Street.

The victim was following in the footsteps when two men confronted her and committed sexual assault, the Waland Police Department said in a statement. The suspects then fled north toward the Rabbit River, police said.

Police describe the first suspect as a white man from his mid to late 20s. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall with dark hair falling below his ears, clean-shaven and dressed in a brown coat.

The second suspect is described as a white man from the mid to late 20s. His height is from 5’6 ″ to 5’9 ″ with a larger waist and short black hair. He was clean-shaven, dressed in a blue-black-and-white plaid coat.
