LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — It’s time to get your weekly dose of politics here in Michigan, and no one knows that better than 6 News Capitol Correspondent Tim Skubic.
According to Tim, abortion is a major issue in the midterm elections – not just Proposition 3, but other elections as well.
Abortion gets independent women to the polls — a big boon for Democrats.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is dominating Republican challenger Tudor Dixon in the polls, and Skubic attributes her lead to Dixon’s unpopular stance on abortion.
Dixon has stated many times that she is against almost all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest. Whitmer, however, is staunchly pro-choice, a popular position here in Michigan.
Those Democratic leaders are spilling over into other races, with Dana Nessel ahead of Matt De Perne in the race for attorney general and Jocelyn Benson well ahead of Republican Christina Karamo in the race for secretary of state.
