After winning the title in 2021, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is once again competing for the “Best Coastal Route in the Country” as part of the “10 Best Readers 2022 USA TODAY” competition.
The winner will be determined by public daily online voting, which ends on April 11. The voting site can be found here: https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-riverwalk-2022/. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is asking supporters to vote frequently to help Detroit Riverwalk regain first place in 2022.
Individuals can vote once a day after the contest.

It would be a great honor to be named the best Riverwalk in 2022. ”
Nominees for the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards were selected by 10Best editors along with a team of urban planning experts. The competition features 20 river walks across the country, including Smile Riverfront Park (Cincinnati), Chicago Riverwalk, Charles River Esplanade (Boston), San Antonio River Walk, Canal Walk (Indianapolis) and others.
Detroit’s waterfront attracts 3.5 million visitors annually.
It will be a busy year for the Detroit Riverfront Conservation as it prepares to exit southwest Greenway and Ralph S. Wilson Jr.’s Centennial Park, the last of which will open in 2024. will celebrate the opening of Southwest Greenway and the opening of the Riverwalk extension along the Uniroyal site, completing its vision of the East Riverfront.
The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy has invested more than $ 200 million in the revival of Detroit’s waterfront, which has brought in more than $ 2 billion in public and private investment.
