The global supplier company has recently taken major hiring steps, and a new CEO has taken the initiative.
Solero Technologies, a world champion supplier of transmission solenoids, engine solenoids, stop-start batteries and hydraulic control modules, recently hired Dr. Donald R. James as the company’s new CEO.
Solero Technologies, formerly BorgWarner North American Controls, was acquired by Atar Capital in December 2021.
Dr. James will oversee the Solero Technologies sales and engineering center in Detroit, as well as manufacturing operations in Water Valley, Mississippi. In addition to this work, Dr. James will oversee the company’s strategic direction and adjust long-term profitable growth. Dr. James will be in Michigan with the team in Detroit.
Ramsey Hermiz, a leader in the transformational automotive industry, previously served as interim CEO and will work with the company as a director of the board of directors.
“Don’s years of success in business and technology, as well as his extensive experience in the automotive industry, will make him a huge asset for the Solero Technologies team,” Hermiz said in a press release. “His experience will be crucial to drive innovation at Solero, expand our reach into new markets and maintain our commitment to sustainability.”
Dr. James has more than 24 years of leadership experience in the automotive industry at home and abroad.
Prior to contacting Solero Technologies, Dr. James served as President of the United States and a member of the Executive Committee at Joyson Safety Systems, where he facilitated the merger of Takata and Key Safety Systems at Joyson, while developing strategic initiatives to increase profitability and growth.
In addition, Dr. James has held various management positions at Continental AG in both North America and Europe; most recently was the Vice President of North America for Hydraulic Brake Systems Company.
At Continental, he led the launch of new facilities in Mexico and established the company’s strategy in the commercial vehicle market, which led to significant market growth.
Awarded two silver medals; one for “Best Project in North America” and the other for “Advantage in Project Management and New Business Development”.
“With Solero’s strong reputation for innovation and product manufacturing, I look forward to working with our employees, customers, suppliers and the community to increase the reach of Solero products in the automotive industry and beyond,” added Dr. James.
Dr. James earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan; and both a master’s degree in business administration and a doctorate in business administration and sustainable development from Lawrence University of Technology.
