Sanlam Wealth has rebranded as Atomos following the completion of its acquisition by Oaktree Capital Management.

Private equity firm Oaktree bought Sanlam Wealth UK from its South African parent for £140m last year.

Atomos in ancient Greek means undivided or indivisible.

Atomos is aiming to become what it claims is “the UK’s first truly digital hybrid business”, offering digital personal and hybrid advice.

Jonathan Pollin, CEO of Atomos, said: “In a rapidly changing world, we understand that people want more flexibility in how they manage their money. The various lockdowns related to COVID-19 have not only changed the way people interact with their savings and investments, but have also exceeded their expectations. Atomos is here to exceed those expectations and enrich the lives of our customers far beyond wealth.

“Our new brand is more than just a refreshed identity, it’s the start of an exciting new chapter. This entire project was focused on the needs and expectations of our customers and informed by their feedback, as well as input from our industry and our peers. The response to our new name has been fantastic and we look forward to building a modern and adaptable business that will turn our customers’ dreams and financial ambitions into reality.”

Atomos is a UK-based, digitally enabled hybrid capital firm that provides financial planning and customized portfolio management.

The Atomos app allows customers to view their entire financial ecosystem and allows customers to choose how they interact with the company, digitally, in person or hybrid.

In February, the company made new appointments to the executive committee, including Haig Bathgate as chief investment officer, Niral Parekh as chief operating officer and Christopher Kraft as chief commercial officer..

Nicola Fraser remains chief financial officer and Jonathan Pollin remains chief executive officer. Emma Browning takes on the role of director of supply.

The company appointed brand agency MadeBrave to initiate the rebranding, including a new name, brand proposition and visual identity.

Oaktree, headquartered in Los Angeles, is a major private equity investor with 1,000 employees worldwide, including a large office in London.
