OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – Police are investigating after a man approached an 11-year-old boy in Port Sheldon and offered him a ride.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, in the 14900 block of Blair Street.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were told an 11-year-old boy was riding his bicycle when he was approached by a man in a black SUV. The man got out of the vehicle and spoke to the boy, but did not make physical contact or threaten the child.

Then a neighbor who was working in his yard began to approach the boy and the man. The man in the SUV then got back into his vehicle and left the area, heading east on Blair Street.
