GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Thursday night in Grand Rapids, police said.

A pedestrian was struck by a train on the tracks near Front Avenue between Welty and Imperial streets around 7:40 p.m. That stretch of Front Avenue was closed for several hours after a man was hit.

It is still unclear what caused the crash.

The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating.
