A special basketball season for girls in Marysville will continue.

Senior Caitlin Kane scored 22 points to lead the Vikings to a 61:51 victory over Lake Fenton in the 2nd Division Regional Tournament Championships in Imla City on Thursday night.

It was the first regional title in the team’s history, and it moved on after the Vikings won the MAC Gold, MAC Blue / Gold tournament and district crowns.

In the win over Lake Fenton Avery Walters and Madeleine Smith scored 11 points each.

In the fourth quarter, Cain made five free throws to help the Vikings hold back Fentan Lake.

Coach Ryan Ratji’s team is the last team of the Macomb Area Conference to remain in the state tournament.

Marysville (22-2) plays Detroit Country in the state quarterfinal game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Callihan Hall in Detroit. DCD won the regional in Clarenceville with a 58-35 victory over Regina.

The winner of the Marysville / Country Day game plays either Grand Rapids West Catholic or Edwardsburg in the state’s semifinal game at Breslin City Center.
