GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Thanksgiving came early for the Hartside community Sunday afternoon.

Guiding Light served 300 hot meals consisting of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, a roll and dessert.

The holiday feast is part of the nonprofit’s annual outreach to community members and people experiencing homelessness or addiction recovery.

“We are honored to be able to provide these dishes. So many people invest in guiding light. “We are excited to share these blessings with our neighbors here in the Heartside area,” said Ellie Velderman, Director of Community Engagement. “It’s a special thing to be able to pass on a lovingly created and prepared Thanksgiving meal, especially on a cold and snowy weekend.”

The nonprofit will also be serving free meals on Christmas Day.
