ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) — Faith is the most important thing to Allendale senior Davina Mancilla. It is clear that her love for God is the driving force behind everything she does.
This also includes her music. Mancilla is part of the women’s ensemble and participates in the all-state honors choir. She likes to use her voice as an instrument—singing with her classmates or just spending time alone worshiping in her room.
“I think it’s so beautiful that God gave us our own tools,” she said. “It’s one of the most beautiful sounds when voices come together to create that harmony.”
But singing is not the only reason that makes Mancilla a great student. She is active in organizations around Allendale, such as leading a prayer group or working in the school’s interaction club.
School counselors nominated her for her compassion and service to others. They said she is a connector of people and a great support for everyone.
Mancilla said she likes being around people.
“The Bible commands us to serve and to know that by serving I can show the love of Jesus Christ is in itself the greatest reward,” she said.
Mancilla is taking time off after graduation — and said she’s relying on her faith in God to show her what she should do after high school.
