GRAND REPIDS, MICHIGAN – Governor Gretchen Whitmer will be in Grand Rapids on Monday.

Whitmer will join the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services highlight the $ 400 return checks that Michigan drivers will begin receiving this week.

The money comes from the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association.

Refunds will be received by policyholders for each vehicle insured as of 23:59 on October 31, 2021. Excess funds will be transferred to insurers at the MCCA by March 9 for return by ACH check or deposit.

According to the state, the return must be made no later than May 9, 2022.

A press conference on the refund is scheduled for Monday at 1:10 p.m.
