Production of massage guns

Therabody was founded in 2008 after Dr. Jason Versland was involved in a motorcycle accident. As he grappled with the various pain coping mechanisms he discovered, shock therapy made a huge difference. His company, Therabody, makes the Theragun, a percussive massage gun that stimulates blood flow and healing.

The firm is now introducing eight new products and has announced the completion of a capital growth round with total funding of $165 million. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers participated through his fund Rx3 Ventures, while actor and comedian Kevin Hart’s HartBeat Ventures also joined the round.

Whole body healing

In a press release, Therabody explains that it aims to move from performance to what it calls whole-body wellness. New offerings include a new generation of the bestselling Theragun massager, as well as a mini version.

Two of the company’s most exciting new products are SmartGoggles and the sound therapy program they’re designed with. The company claims that the SmartGoggles use vibration, heat and massage to relieve facial tension as well as headaches. Therabody also claims it can help with a good night’s sleep in this way. A related sound therapy content is called TheraMind, which uses musical elements and audio techniques.

Latest innovations

For consumers excited about the SmartGoggles, Therabody says their suggested retail price will be $199. The company notes that the year turned out to be fruitful in terms of the introduction of new product lines. The second generation of RecoveryAir pneumatic compression boots was launched in February. About 100 sports teams use this technology.

Executives say the company will use the newly raised funds to innovate, focusing on software and services as well as hardware. The full-body wellness centers known as Reset are also in the works. Overall, Therabody claims that its product offerings give the company a unique ability to keep consumers’ minds and bodies moving.
