GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — While police were arresting a man accused of sex crimes, they found chemicals and drug paraphernalia.
Grand Rapids police were searching a building on Commerce Avenue between Goodrich Street and Bartlett Street in downtown Grand Rapids around 2:40 p.m., Thursday. They were there to arrest a man who had been accused of criminal sexual conduct and collect evidence.
The man was detained. GRPD’s Special Response Team found chemicals, equipment and consumables that could be used to create illegal drugs.
The Michigan State Police Methamphetamine Response Team was brought in to investigate. The MSP said there was no risk to the public during the evidence collection and clean-up.
