Turkey Tom is a playful yearling male available for foster/adoption. He is affectionate, likes long walks and responds to treats.

The Detroit Animal Care Shelter continues to make it a priority to send as many animals as possible up for adoption, fostering and surrender. Detroit Animal Care is currently at capacity and is asking for the public’s help in adopting or fostering an animal.

Now is the time for those interested in finding their “Furever Friend” to take advantage of the fee waiver during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday week.

Detroit Animal Care is open all week including Thanksgiving.

Opening hours are as follows:

Open daily from 10:30am to 3:30pm on November 24

12:00 – 14:00 November 25

Adoption takes place at the Detroit Animal Care Shelter located at 7401 Chrysler Drive in Detroit.

There is no adoption fee all week and all dogs and cats will be fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.

“We want everyone who is planning to get a pet for the holidays to come and see our many deserving dogs in need of homes,” said Detroit Animal Care Director Mark Kumpf. “Like shelters across the state, we don’t have the option. We ask everyone to consider adopting or even fostering one of our dogs.”
