Chris Redd is said to be on the mend after being attacked outside a comedy club in New York last week.

The 37-year-old former Saturday Night Live star is believed to have suffered two black eyes and a broken nose when he was punched in the rib cage outside the Comedy Cellar venue in Manhattan on Wednesday night (26.10.22). but TMZ.com now reports that he is on the mend and is said to be feeling “very happy and blessed.”

Chris was heading into the club to perform a 15-minute set when a man approached him and punched him in the face before running off. The star was helped by staff who rushed to his aid and was later hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.

TMZ reports that the comedian had a chain ripped from his neck during the attack, but was later able to get the jewelry back.

After the attack, the police asked for help in finding the culprit.

According to the New York Post, the alleged attacker is described as 35 to 40 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 280 pounds. They released surveillance footage showing the alleged attacker caught on camera near the comedy venue.

The publication said police do not believe the attack is connected to a headline-grabbing challenge called the “knockout game,” which has been blamed for a string of attacks across the U.S. in which unwitting victims are randomly beaten by strangers on the street.
