BRIGHTON — Police Chief Rob Bradford is retiring in October after 26 years with the Brighton Police Department.

He said he will take a week after his retirement to travel to Zion National Park before starting his new position as deputy chief of the Green Oak Police Department on Oct. 24.

Bradford started as a reserve player in 1996, while still at Clarkston, before accepting a full-time position at Brighton in 1997.

Bradford said he was proud of the staff he hired at Brighton.

“We have a fantastic department,” he said.

One of the officers he has trained is Brent Pirochta, who will take over for Bradford in early October.
