(WXYZ) – In an effort to prevent drivers with disabilities on St. Patrick’s Day, AAA has said it is stepping up its “Tug to Go” program starting Thursday and continuing until the weekend.

The program helps provide transportation for drivers with disabilities and their vehicles, and it is available in Michigan.

According to the AAA, the Tow to Go program will transport drivers with disabilities and their vehicles to a safe place within a 10 mile radius.

The AAA said it should be seen as a last resort and people should first try to take a taxi designated by drivers or other travel services.

“Driving with disabilities threatens not only yourself but the lives of all the adults and children you travel with,” said Adrien Woodland, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While AAA is proud to present this rescue program, we encourage people to identify a safe ride home before the party and consider Tow to Go as a last resort.”

Phone number is 855-286-9246 and it will be available to non-AAA members from 6pm on Thursday, March 17th, to 6pm on Monday, March 21st.
