Lansing, Michigan (WLNS) – The first black bakery and coffee shop in the area opened its doors on Saturday.
Sweet Encounter specializes in all gluten-free desserts and foods.
Want to learn how to cook? The diner also has a classroom area just for cooking lessons.
The bakery started in a small room – in the Middle Village micromarket – where promising businesses are located.
Owner Nicki Thompson Fraser takes everything to a new level with its own showcase.
Thompson Fraser says he hopes such a downtown business will attract more people to the area.
“I am very happy to be here again today, a historic moment not only for me but also for Lansing,” said Nikki Thompson Fraser. “I am happy to help revive the city center. I think it’s so important that more people come downtown to help these businesses be able to travel. And there are a lot of interesting things if we all get together and do it in the city center. “
In addition, Thompson Fraser was able to start by winning the Lansing Built to Last competition in 2021.
