Two people were injured, one with life-threatening injuries, in a crash on Old US 23 in Brighton early Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 5:40 a.m., an 18-year-old Milford man ran west through a flashing red light at the corner of Hyne Road and Old US 23, where his 2007 Lexus was located. struck a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by a 36-year-old White Lake man.
An 18-year-old man was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor with life-threatening injuries, while the other driver was taken to St. Joseph Brighton Hospital with minor injuries.
Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The road was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police Brighton Post, Livingston County EMS and the Brighton Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office of Traffic Safety.
